Headed to the hill country this weekend and was thinking about hitting up the Guad. Any wading tips for a first timer to the area? I'll be going for LMB and Panfish mostly

I do not fly fish but I fish the Guadalupe a lot. Right now I am finding nice bass along grass beds close to drop offs. Also catching nice Bluegill in grass beds, shallow water 2 to 4 feet deep. Fish are very active. thumb

Side Note: Also overhanging tree limbs and brush piles are holding some nice fish. cheers

What part of the river were you planning on, above or below Canyon Lake? Both can be great so it really doesn't matter. Flows are really lower right now, even with the rain the upper guad just got. They are currently more than double what they were a week ago, but still quite low and easily wadeable.

The flow rate below Canyon is way down so wading won't be an issue at all. There are some big stripers the closer you get to the dam too, so bring some big streamers if you're inclined. I've had good success with streamers in some of the faster moving waters with Guadalupe Bass. The brunch money in blue gill and brown trout are my favorites for the Guad, bass love them. Don't forget there are quite a few small mouth bass in the Guadalupe as well.

Edit: Looks like the recent rains increased the flow rate a bit from 60 to 100 cfs but that's still very wadable. Some of my best fishing has happened a day or two after heavy rains in the summer, so your timing should be spot on.
