The flounder haven't really started their run yet. Need a decent cool front to get them on the move.
Seawolf can be a really good place to fish, but it will cost you $20 to park and fish with 2 people. And on the weekends it's frickin crowded.
Alot of people wade the flats before you get into the park, but can get crowded there to and you have to park on side of road.
The best time to get on those flatties is a couple days after a good cool front, they will start stacking up.

I'm sure the rocks by the pier and pier itself will be crowded, usually is on weekends, especially when the flounder come in. If you watched that video above, behind the ship where they caught a few flounder can be a good spot. Plus what I call the lagoon area on the left when you drive into the park is a goid wading spot. That's if your and your son can wade, don't know his age.
Live shrimp and finger mullet are great for flounder. Those gulp alive penny colored and atomic chicken are hard to beat as well, but expensive.
Good luck.

Time it two days after a strong cold front, water will have come back in by then and it usually gets them going. More so than anything, its the length of the day, thats what makes them know its time to go, regardless of air temp.

The surf has been producing some good fish between San Luis Pass and Surfside beach.
Get a rattling/weighted popping cork with about 24"-30" of leader to your hook. Live shrimp, finger mullet and croaker will produce you something. With the little cool front coming in, the surf should be very fishable and beach in that area is free. If I wasn't bow hunting this weekend I would be in the surf. Check the tides though, hard to beat an incoming tide.

Don't go fishing with him. You won't catch a thing. he catches EVERYTHING. doesn't matter where you go with this kid, he catches fish when nobody does. The only time I was with him and he failed to pull the big one into the boat was when he hooked a 12 foot ray fishing for kings near shore.

I am hearing about some coming in that are not being reported, big ones too, Pelican island area. But I wont be eating anything out of TX waters for a while after this hurricane. Say what you will, but trying to be safe all around. Too far to drive for catch/release.
