My wife has a new Robalo R180 with a Yamaha 115. We use it primarily for knee boarding, tubing, etc. Most of the time when pulling I'm running around 3200-3400 RPM and the stern is really squatting and the bow pointed at the sun. I know a four blade will cost me a little on the top end, but I seldom run WOT so speed is not a factor. The prop it came with gives 30MPH @5000 and that's what Yamaha says it should do with my boat. Just wondering if a four blade would give the stern some lift at the slower speeds.

The four blade will allow the boat to plane faster and at a slower speed. I think it's just what you need.

You might be better off with a 5 blade for maximum takeoff & lift.

My Skeeter fish and ski with an F115 outboard had the same problem. I tried a cheap aluminum four blade Solas prop and it made a big difference. You may need to drop to a lower pitch to still achieve the same WOT RPMs. I think I dropped 2", but the 4 blade prop is cupped and the original 3 blade wasn't so it was really only like dropping 1". I actually didn't lose much, if any off of top speed.

While my Tracker Avalanche with the EFI 150 Merc is not known to be a fast boat, the 4 blade 21P trophy plus I replaced the 3 blade 23P Tempest Plus with is beyond my expectations. 3 times faster hole shot and more top speed. Thursday the lake was like glass and I finally got to open it up and trim it out WOT. GPS showed 63.1 mph with 2 people and 1/2 tank gas with full load of gear. 58 mph was all the 3 blade 23P Tempest would ever do. I like the fact that I can now run on pad 10 mph slower and not porpoise. Cruising at 3800 rpm is saving me lots of fuel over having to run the motor at 4200 to stay on pad.

Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!
