I couldnt stand it any longer so I called Jimmy Steed and he took me out on Falcon this past Saturday. Had a great day, the wind blew a little harder than we wanted, but Jimmy knew where to go to minimize its impact on us. Not many folks on the water for a Saturday, I was surprised but I guess it is college football season.
We caught small fish shallow on square bills, the Dobro 350 was a factor! It captured LM, White Bass, and the ever elusive Gaspergou. After having our fun shallow, we went a little deeper and found better size. My top five went 26 lbs. with two sixes and one that went eight which was big for the day.
The lake is low, with lots of great structure high and dry. We need some rain in the Falcon watershed, but it is a good time to learn the lake.
Lastly, I stayed at the Amigo in for the first time. It is very nice, and a great value. Robert has worked hard to renovate the motel rooms and has built several new standalone cabins that you can rent. I will definitely stay there again in the future.
The key to a great trip to Falcon is to visit Falcon Lake Tackle and the Bendeles, dinner at El Rincon, eat breakfast at Tinas and spend a day on the water with Jimmy Steed!
