First time to fish this lake and really loved it. One of the few lakes where you have easy access to the river which is the West Fork of the Trinity. I knew before I left home I was going to fish the river just because it was something different. Launched at Wise County Park per Mark Perry and glad I did because by noon the main lake was rolling. Another reason to launch at WCP and fish the river. Took about half hour to find some biters and they were tight, I mean REAL tight to cover. Caught'em in the bushes in 3-4 FOW on rock banks and the bushes had to be in the shade, no shade no fish. Was flipping a green/pumpkin rage craw in Beans Creek on the SE bank. Caught a couple in another area but most in Beans Creek. Only took one picture of the largest and doubt he weighed 2 lbs. Lots and lots of bream bites but easy to tell so no hook set. Hard drive from my house so may be awhile before I go back but really fell in love with the lake and all it has to offer. Except for the drive really enjoyed the day.

Thanks for the report. I need to get out there. It's one of the closer lakes to me and I've never been on it.

Highly recommend WCP for launching ( 4 ramps and 2 courtesy docks ) and there's no real reason to go to the main lake unless you just want to. Didn't see any grass in the river but heard there was some in some areas of the lake. River water was pretty clear until you go past Beans Creek and then it starts to get dirty. Good luck when you go.

Wish I could have reported on some "bigguns" but only had about 3 hours to fish and didn't want to spend that time gazing at my graph, but I know the lake has big fish and lots of them. I can actually get to Possum Kingdom quicker than I can to BP and it's a lot farther. I envy you guys that live close to that lake. Special place.

American Bass Anglers was there Sat and Sun, Sat there was only 1 over weighed in with 33 entries, Sun there were 3 overs with 23 entries and one 4lb small mouth. several large spots came in on Sun 9 plus lbs to take the win, Sat took 8 plus to take the win. Good luck lake is fishing tough for overs, I caught a lot of 17 plus slot fish for the first 2 hours on Sun.

I love the "easy river access" thing. Interested in going up river but never been on Bridgeport. Were you actually going out towards the main lake and up the actual Trinity River or were you just going straight north(up lake) into the river that WCP is in? If so you were actually going into Big Creek which is the arm WCP is in. Just need clarifying. Is there actually easy(run on plane) access into the Trinity River? Easy access up into Big Creek? On Google Maps the enterance into the Trinity looks a lot "scetchier". Not as defined? Anyone? For those unsure which river is which look on Google Maps. Thanks for the info, 361v.

You can run on pad to the railroad bridge way up in Big Creek if you know the route. It's easy idling though if you don't know the way. Not bad at all. You can run a bit into the river too but same deal....I would idle it the first couple of times.

Bigger fish for me have been on main lake points, but once that water temp starts dropping in to the 70's start heading to be backs of the creeks. It won't be long with this weather coming in this week.
