What not to tie a monofilament leader to a beaded line?

Help me understand why you put a mono leader on braid. I assume a person uses braid because it has zero stretch and it's so hard to break. When you add mono you're putting stretch back into the line and you've created a weak point that will break. I've used braid tied directly to the jig and find it works just as well without the mono leader. I could better understand tying fluorocarbon to the braid since it has very little stretch but I just don't get along with flouro. Curious hmmm

To whom much is given, much is required.

I use 20 lb yellow braid for the no stretch sensitivity and line watching. The stretch in a 3 ft 10 lb fluorocarbon leader is not even measurable compared to the stretch in 30 ft of mono and loss of sensitivity and reaction time of the Thump. My surgeons knot has never failed me in 35 plus years of using it. When my jig is caught on brush I have a 1 ounce bell sinker on a coastlock snap I put on the line to try to drop shot it loose. If not successful very easy to break the leader and save all the braid. If it was mono no telling how much line you will lose.
A biggie.....braid has NO memory, ever! It is expensive but a couple of times a year pull off 20 ft and you have new line.

Dock shooting? Yep..your favorite brand of 6 lb hi vis yellow mono.
