I must not know how to catch a bass. Went to red river three times and only caught one bass. What am I doing wrong?

what techniques did you try.
bait size, color, presentations?
time of day, weather, water conditions all can work against you too.
don't give up, I had a great August bite, but September has been tough so far.

It's not you. The Red is fishing very tough right now for everyone including locals.

Red stinks. Went there 2 times caught 8 fish none over 2 lbs. Come on Bass Champs get over RED!

Red River WAS one of my favorite fisheries locally; could always go there for a confidence boost and have a good "numbers" day. Unfortunately, 2 of the past 3 years we had "100 Year Floods", it devastated the fish population. It's a shame, but true.

Also, unless the Corpse of Engineers ponies up several million to dredge out the silted in places, it's going to continue to fish much smaller than it did in its glory days of the two Classics. Many places are silted in completely, or the access is silted in.

I qualified for the Ray Scott Championship on the Red in April of next year ... never been on the river before, it's a long drive and have been debating on going or not. If the locals can't catch a fish I may have a shot. Looks like I'll be trying to fish the lucky pattern like everyone else..

I love the Red! It is in my top
5 favorite places to have a big tournament.
