Just bought my first pack of Biffle Bugs and some of the Hardhead hooks that were designed for them. I've heard alotta good things about them. Gonna try them out this weekend. How is everyone fishing them? Are you rigging them on the Hardhead and "Cranking" it like Tommy Biffle tells you to or is there another way that works better for you? Just wanting some pointers and Feedback to help me out this weekend.

Thanks,

Rig it on the hard head, cast it out, let it sink to the bottom, and reel it in at a steady retrieve. The more snaggy the rocks, the faster you'll have to reel it. Most of the time a slow and steady retrieve is best. That's what works for me anyways. Another important key to this bait is to not set the hook like a monster. You're already reeling the bait, so a nice sweep of the rod will do, or just reel into them. If you set the hook like a monster, you'll end up missing some fish. One last tip: don't be afraid to rig odd baits on there. Sometimes I'll throw a mag ultravibe speed worm on there, a 5" single tail grub, or even a fluke. It's a very versatile method of catching fish.

What kinda got me interested in trying to start fishing it is when I stumbled upon an article about the new Gene Larew "Rock Banger" they are coming out with.

http://www.genelarew.com/rockbanger

looks pretty interesting and im always trying to find a new way to catch fish.

I don't use the actual Hard Head, I use the VMC brand. But they do the exact same thing as a hard head. I pretty much use 1/2oz or 3/4oz. That covers a variety of depths.

Use it anywhere you would use a crankbait, I also use it a lot in brush piles. 3/8 90% of the time I use Mustad interchangeable heads.

I think I have seen a ton of pictures of Fork guide Tony Clark and his clients that have caught fish on the Biffle Bug. I think he uses it a lot and might be able to give you some info on the bait. Or just try to get with Tommy Biffle. I have watched him slay some fish on it in some tournaments. Looks like he just throws it out and reels slowly on the bottom banging into anything he can.

I fish them like a jig, around rocks, brush piles and timber. Good lure, but you do not hvae to crank it. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

I fish it most of the time like I do a C-rig, dragging it along. I don't crank it because I rarely fish it over rock. I also pitch it like a jig to stumps and timber. I prefer the V&M swing head because it has a recessed line tie. For me, they hang up less than the Larew Hard head. The line tie on the hard head sticks way out. I also like the Strike King Structure head swing head. It has a "cobra" style head and it comes through cover very well also.
