The only things that are relevant are water temp, level and clarity. The other stuff is tripe. If you want more info on a lake go fish with a guide. In the future you can call that guide and he'll give you info. Won't kill you to fish with a guide once or twice a year and you'll learn a lot.
John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.

I guess a lot of you don't know the origins of the TFF. www.txfishing.com is the website built by JP Greeson. The TFF is the official forum of that website. The reports are supplied to TP&W and this is a copy/paste. Compiled and edited by J.P. Greeson, Bink Grimes, Kendal Hemphill and Mark Perry for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department under a federal grant provided by the Sport Fish Restoration Program. The reports are only as accurate as the chain of contacts that support it

I stopped checking these reports when I noticed they were reporting fish caught on baits/lures that you can't even buy anymore! I live on Canyon Lake and will try anything sometimes. When these fish get tight lipped, the struggle is real

The reports are only as good as the source. Some of our reports are excellent and supplied by some of the best guides in the state. Some of the reports are on lakes where there are no guides, no marinas and no bait stores, so we rely on intermittent reports from locals. The reports are compiled by 4 writers who communicate with their network of local reporters. I stopped checking these reports when I noticed they were reporting fish caught on baits/lures that you can't even buy anymore! I live on Canyon Lake and will try anything sometimes. When these fish get tight lipped, the struggle is real Jim Files was our contact on Canyon Lake for years. He's definitely old school and fished a lot of old school baits.
The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

J.P., THanks for the info, good to know! I certainly appreciate any report coming from Canyon. I just figured the reports were auto generated based on past reports because of the out of date baits. Truth is, I have scoured the internet trying to find some of those baits. I figure if they worked once, they can work again! Anyway, not trying to knock the reports, and I appreciate the reply.
