Exactly this....stay in the hotel in Mazatln and all will be peachy...head out on the town in Mazatln, risk your life...that's how cut and dry it is. I believe the place is safe if you stay to your self on the way to El Salto and once you get back into Mazatln. I would go in a second...but I wouldn't be checking out any of the "attractions" in Mazatln.

Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.

,,,,OR,,,,
maybe there is something you took (that I am as well) that you never touched and you could have done without........
100 pounds of lures -- 3 bags ...... seems like an awful lot for 4 days of fishing,
banana fish clap

Whoever you booked with should be able to give you up to the minute info on what's working and what's not.

The nice thing about Anglers Inn is that they do your laundry every day. You don't need to bring much clothing = more room for "what if" tackle.

I will say that while all of the standards (big Rico, 6" Senko, 8" lizard, 10" power worm, fat free shad, 10XD) have their time, the bite is always slightly different, even under the same conditions. We went in May of 2013 and absolutely WRECKED them on Chatterbaits. Of course we only had a handful of them and they got abused. The next year we returned the same time at a similar water level, with dozens of chatterbaits and caught a total of one fish on them.

Don't hesitate to try anything you want, but the guides are usually pretty dialed in.

And unlike some others Anglers Inn does not require you to pay for a final night in Mazatlan. All lodging is included in the base price.

Been several times to Pichacos, Once with Speed, never understood the reason to take you into town the night before leaving, and you have to pay for the room. Anglers Inn will get you there most times to fish the first afternoon, no charge for trans, or a night stay in Mazatlan, their lodge at Pichacos and Salto are both really good, first class, Speed was very good also on food and lodging, just he last night stay and trans charges

with a bobber on the bank ?
j/k
to each his own --- but I think you would be missing out on the trip of a lifetime.
the odds are better that you will be killed driving down the road than being killed by a bad guy at a fishing camp.
what in the world would you have with you or be doing that would interest some bandito ?
airport--fishing lodge--airport ...... that ain't too dangerous.
