He smoked the smallmouth over the weekend on a 1 ounce football jig. Very impressive when most guys were using drop shots, tubes and small swim baits.

Mille Lacs is known for its big smallmouths, first day alone they had what like 20 sacks over 20 lbs. I'm not surprised that a big bait such as the football jig was a success there. Congrats to Keith on the win, always good to see a local stick get it done.

Word from local who fish for bass is that jigs used to be the deal there before dropshotting took over...which didn't seem to work as well this year for the Elites.
