I hauled in a net full of bait-size shad yesterday that also included 6 or so sandbass of the same size. Is this a case of similar-size fish schooling together, or did the sandies have eyes bigger than their stomachs?

I have caught small yellow bass and sand bass that were about a half incher longer than a 1oz slab. I would say they are hanging around the shad and mutilating them when they get hungry

Be thankful that it wasn't small catfish that you caught in your net. You would probably still be working on getting those boogers out of your net!
