I will be making my first trip to rayburn and staying close to Boykins. With the water up I assume the lance vick boat lanes are pretty good now, but above 147 looks risky. Anything else I should know?

Also, how is the accuracy of navionics vs lakemaster there?

No buoys on Rayburn except no wakes around ramps. The rest is run at your own risk. Below caney safe. Caney to 147 watch the black forest and Amber forest. They are under water and look like open water. You will see guys running across that but as stated, you're taking a chance. Every foot the lake drops you will see why...

Use the boat lanes chip all the time. Like previously said there aren't any boat lanes marked so the chip is the only way you feel safe particularly north of the 147 bridge

Get a map and know where the big areas of flooded timber are then look for people NOT running across them and follow them. Get you a few trails marked and you should be good. As was pointed out you'll see guys WAO across what looks like open water but it's not and they are either ignorant of the area or just risk takers. I figure they must not have to pay for repairs or have great life insurance policies! I don't have the coordinates right off but search on here, there is a well known single tree around boykins right off the ramp close to the bridge that will sneak up on you.

Get the chip and watch Ken Smith's videos on youtube he breaks down the lake pretty good.

I have the boatlanes chip for Rayburn and its spot on. Right now just north of 147 is ok there is some isolated stumps you will have to look out for in the large open water area just north of the bridge. A few of them sit just a couple of inches out of the water but most are easily visible. There is no marked boat lane leaving cassell boykin and if you run toward the bridge from there you will notice a long underwater point. Theres a stump around the end of it that is sitting right at the surface at the moment that you will need to avoid. Otherwise the lanes are very good. I also have the lakemaster plus maps and they're fairly accurate. Some areas are off by 2 foot or so but the channels are represented well. Just change the water level to what the lake is at and roll on. I love the humminbird maps.

Good luck.

Above 147 you need to know where you are going below the bridge running south stay on the right side of the river until past the Amber forest the stay left of the river until you clear the Black and reverse that coming back up. The chip is a big help if you don’t know where you are going and is really a must have until you learn it.

Thanks guys, I got my vick boat lanes set up and watched the ken smith videos, that gives me a lot more confidence.

Just 1 more week, can't wait to get out there. Hopefully I'll have a decent report to give after.

Anyone have GPS coordinates of that stump?
