I usually bass fish, but here lately the crappie have been biting on small jigs thrown around docks according to some locals. I have tried this a couple of times and had success, but my only problem has been the line on my seldom used small spinning rods. Even after buying and replacing with new 6lb test, it still gets kinky and wraps itself around the pole after an hour or so. Anyone know of a great line in small test for fishing small jigs on a spinning reel?

Spool up with 6lb and before you fish with it run it out behind the boat to remove all the twists in the line. I do this before I fish everytime I respool and don't have any problems.

Thanks. I will probably try that within the next 48 hours.

Power Pro Slick 8 braid. You can throw and shoot it just like mono without the mono hassles.

I would look at a you tube video and see if you are winding the line on in the right direction (clockwise vs counterclockwise) and always manually shut the bail before reeling which becomes automatic after awhile. 1000 size reel will have less problems than a 500 size reel.

Random thoughts.

if you use mono be careful how you wind it off the spool.if you lay the spool on its side and take a few cranks and let slack in your line and it twists up,flip the spool over and it will not twist near as much.but i take mine off with the spool hanging on a coat hanger through the hole.but best solution is 20# Power Pro Slick Braid in HI Vis Yellow.best line ever! never twists!

Vertical fishing I use 20# Sufix 832 braid with an 8 or 10# fluoro leader. Dock shooting is normally 8# mono of some sort.

This! Power Pro Slick 8 can be purchased in high vis yellow and it is the only brand I have found to hold its color.

I like my fishing like a whino likes his wine!

Power Pro Super 8 Slick 10,15 or 20 lb test Hi-Vis yellow works great. Also use a short 18 inch fluorocarbon leader. You can't go wrong with that combo. Been using Power Pro for years started using it Musky fishing up north.
