I'm starting to fish more saltwater myself. I have two setups now and have been experimenting with different baits.

Fished serenity park in McKinney today. Ended up catching 3. Biggest was 2.6 lbs.

Nice fish from Serenity. I've caught smaller bass there but nothing of any size.

As far as saltwater gear goes, bass gear works fine as long as you take care of it and don't bite off more than you can chew. i.e., If you hook into a 30 pound jack crevalle with your bass tackle, good luck because it probably isn't going to end well. Basically, with your reel, don't dunk it in water (I was guilty of this last weekend), rinse it off with freshwater after use and occasionally get it cleaned by someone who knows what they are doing. I use KVS here on the forums, who takes my reels apart and cleans them when needed. At $15 per reel, it is well worth it to keep them in tip top shape (there is no way I could take them fully apart and put them back together with all those tiny parts). Eventually I would like to get a dedicated inshore casting reel, but my Lews have never let me down so I am not in too much of a rush.

Last Monday I decided to do some wading and fly fishing in another local creek in Allen. This time went to Cottonwood Creek and Allen Station Dam had some fun. Rocks were super slick down there. Here is some video of the small bass and sunfish I caught in the super clear water.

Also went out today in an unknown section of Rowlett creek that runs through Allen. Hopefully I can get the video started and finished before the weekend.

Great pics, reports, and videos! Rowlett Creek and the Allen Station Dam areas in Allen are looking great!

Sidetracked with the Switch Rod lately... this time, the catch and release ponds a Plano East Senior High School. No Bruisers but still fun. Video Post.

That is hilarious fshng84 maybe my wife will be able to understand now that my addiction to fishing isn't too bad after all. I'll say "now see some people have it worse than me". I won't be fishing in a hurricane anytime soon.

Finished my video from my last wade fly fishing trip to a Rowlett Creek in Allen. I will probably take the kayak out to the lake on my next trip... I'm craving some bigger fish. But I will say this I did head over to a pond in Allen Friday and caught a really nice bass which was a surprise considering where I went. Was probably a 3 lb fish if I had to guess. I will try to post a pic of it if I can photobucket was asking for money last time I tried to use it. But for now here is my creek video.

Here is the fish I caught Friday at a pond in Allen. Chiggers ate my legs up out there but it was fun I caught 3 more but the were dinks. Still a fun day for only having a few hours to fish. The main reason for the trip was to release my pet turtle "Stumpy" that I caught at the creek back in May.

Thanks Fisherman13! Great reports on the creeks in Allen. Have not fished them for a while now; good to see they are still producing!

Fighting a cold lately but did get more done with the wooden trout net... Post. Nothing fancy, just inexpensive but functional was the intent.

Took the 4 weight out this morning and fished a pond that we had not fished for several years. No Bruisers but did have fun catching fish on the fly! Video.

I know that place well. It indeed has some really good bass hiding in there. Not a lot of big fish but it does have some very healthy fish. I've never seen the bank that over grown... they have let that place go a little. The opposite end from where you started where the little creek comes in is where I have caught the biger bass they will stage on front of that little creek facing it waiting for an easy meal. I have never seen anyone else down there when I have gone. Lol I have had the apartment security guys on golf carts drive down and check me out but they just wave and keep going.

Took the kayak down to a spot I could access Pilot Grove creek at Lake Lavon. Was definitely an interesting day out. Muddy and sketchy launch. The fishing was meh... but access to downstream areas was blocked by log jams some I made it passed and one that finally stopped me. I do have another spot I may try to access the creek but I've never scouted the launch to see if its even possible. Maybe I will drive down one day and see. Here is a short video of this adventure.
