Looking at new Fords. 50K New Tundra 42K. Think I might go with Toyota.
Anything I need to worry about?
Barry nope, other than spending money on mods. I picked up a 2017 TSS Off Road SR5 4x4 CM for under 40K. There are some great deals right now. 18s are going up $1k with just minor changes. Only problem I had with the Tundra is that ugly chrome grille. I ordered a TRD PRO grille the day I bought the truck. While I had the OEM off I added a 32" LED light bar. I had planned to put the bar in the bumper. Since swapping out the grille I have decided to put a 40" behind the grille and move the 32" down. Guys at the deer lease will be real happy when I roll in to camp in the dark.

As stated before ...original motor drive train etc....the scheduled maintenance of any vehicle doesn't include overhaul or replacement of engines or trannys...the guy had something like 120 visits to dealer for scheduled maintenance...not replacements or overhauls.... redchevy you should know what scheduled maintenance is...right?

I still want to know what the routine maintenance is. I wonder if there were some major overhauls on that motor or not.
None..all original ..Big article about it...Toyota gave him a new one after hearing about this hitting 1 mil...are now in possession of it
All the article would say was nothing more than Toyota scheduled maintenance or similar is all I could ever find about it and my question was and still is... what is Toyotas recommended scheduled maintenance for 300,000, 400,000,.... 900,000 etc. miles?
We do know that at 999,999.9, Toyota wants them turned back in,......

I wonder what the OP ended up buying. I heard he bought a Chevy with a 6.2 so he wouldn't have to get in petty little arguments about who's truck is the most powerful.

I am a converted "TUNDRA" guy, but the 98 Dodge I had before the Tundra was a hell of a truck. Had a 360 quad cab that got as good a mileage as my 07 tundra. Put 250,000 on it and replaced the tranny at 175,000. The biggest difference I see in Toyota and my old ram (or pretty much any american truck I have owned) is the "little things like broken knobs, torn seats, cracked and fading dashes, chipping paint, powerlocks and doors, and perhaps the biggest item, THE AIR CONDITIONERS. I have had terrible luck in the past with Ford, Chevy, Dodge with these items. The only item broken on my 07 tundra is a rear door actuator after 10 years and a quarter million miles. Does it drive like new? Hell no. Does it have the power it had when I bought it? not quite. Yeah, the gas mileage sucks, like it always has, but I don't really feel it unless gas gets over 3 bucks a gallon. I have not owned a Ford or Chevy since the early 90's, so I really cant speak for them as far as their newer vehicles. All I know is that I am sold on the Yota and the quality of their fit, finish, and materials used in their products. Everything in the truck seems "overbuilt" and I like that.
Everything on your bass boat is broken......You just don't know it yet.

The Tundra got my daughter to school this morning
Will report back later You're a good man for not making your daughter drive a Ford.

My point is there is no scheduled maintenance for 700,000 miles. They were very vague about calling it Toyota scheduled maintenance and in my opinion there was a reason for that. I'd say its just as big a feat the transmission making it to a million miles as the motor, but you don't hear anything about that. Is it possible I guess so, do I completely believe what Toyota and the media feed me? No. Something that greatly adds to the amount of miles a vehicle will rack up in my opinion is how they are used not many vehciles see that kind of mileage. I think Toyota builds a quality product, but I am very much a skeptic of that truck. My boss drives a 7.3 F250 with 340k miles on it... but he wont tell you that an injector cup rusted through and he had the heads rebuilt at 250k miles either.

Yes I'm aware of that, doesn't mean they wont rebuild a head or a motor and call it maintenance. I bet Toyota would overlook a transmission or engine rebuild to claim a million mile motor as well. I watched all the stuff about it and they were talking about how it had surprisingly little to no wear etc... I'm expecting all the tundras to make a million trouble free miles now.

They are talking about exterior and interior had that wear in relation to the mileage...there have been other vehicles reach this mark...is it a freak ...yes probably...but it did do it..like it or not
