The only secret to this lake is you have to put in the hours and learn it. I started fishing it when it opened and I've literally logged in over 6,000 hours fishing on this lake, and I've been on at least 50 guided trips there. The more I stay away from it, the tougher it gets. As bill Wilcox says there is nothing better for you to learn a lake than time on the water. This is the one lake that you really have to put time in on. With over 15,000 acres of flooded timber on a 29,000 acre lake that is considered a deep lake it can be very frustrating. Your not going to go out and be a Bass Champ without putting in some serious time on this lake. Get you a plum colored worm on a drop shot, or a Lake Fork French Fry in Watermelon on a Carolina rig or a split shot rig with 6" leader and flip every tree and point in a cove or a creek till you learn that one part of the lake. Then go to the next. If you don't have that kind of time and patients book Danny Golden or Barrett a few trips.

Tell me though, do you fish past 30 feet at RR very often? Just want to eliminate as much as I can.

Great advise above, if you need another guide, I've been out with Brad Hardt who is a member here, and he can put you on some fish.

The first thermocline is set up at about 16', I don't fish much deeper than that unless I'm fishing one of the many brush piles.

As a rule of thumb for me between now and Texas OU weekend they hold tight to the timber, a Chompers plum colored #31 drop shot worm in the timber is deadly.
