Hello everybody, there's this particular spot that i fish at. It has a lot of alligator gar and catfish.
So this has happened to me like 5 times. There's something that always swallow my hook, this assuming fish always overpowered my rod and my line always broke and I will never see the fish.
Each time this happened, it will dragged me for about 30 minutes. It always dive down the water and probably hide under the rock where it stuck harder to pull and still dragging until my line will cut.
Can anyone suggest what type of fish this can be? can you tell me which Pole/Rod and line is best for this type of monster fish?
Thank you in advanced.

Are there any gators where you are fishing? I have not seen any, but the water is all brown looking. I always pick up some Mussels there too

You might be hooking into Laugerhead turtle. I have caught some very very big ones in Texas. They tend to lock down on the bottom.

I recall when my Dad killed a loggerhead turtle. Took the shell/carcass and placed it onto a large ant den in a cow pasture. He covered it with a big washtub and left it for months. (I don't recall how many) The ants ate all of the flesh and Dad was left with a "clean" turtle shell.
On average, your heart beats 100,000 times a day. One day, one of those heartbeats will be your last. Then what?
The answer is found in Jesus Christ who said "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." John 10:10 ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

A big flathead will sometimes go to the bottom and stick itself down there. Will feel like you are hung up on a log.
From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."
Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

This always happens each time i use a Hot Dog bait... I hope the fish will not die as it swallow completely before i start pulling and then my line get cut

A big Op's (YellowCat) instinct for the most part, is to dive to get under a log, under a rock, or to lock itself in the mud if it can't find structure to get under.
Best thing, is to catch it by reeling it in before it can get under structure, then you will find out whether it is a Big Yellow, Huge Turtle, or small Gator. If you are using 20# test, go 50#. If you are using 50# test, then go 75 if possible.

Do you think the whatever may die because the hook might have hurt their stomach when dragging with me?

Switch to braided line, if your not currently using it. Braid will have no stretch and will help you get the fish out of the nasty stuff it is in.
80 lb braid is my preference
