I have a 2007 Mercury Optimax 225 hp here are my questions. I can not find a drain plug for the lower unit how do I change the gear oil. I have never seen one with out a drain plug? I also can not locate an external fuel filter? Thank you for any guidance you may provide. Delbert

It is behind the prop. The fuel filter is a red serrated top plastic caped filter that screws into the VST. Requires a special tool.

Thank You Mr. Purdy: I came from a 200 hp carb. engine. Fuel injection is a challenge for me. Not sure what the principal was for moving the drain plug for the gear oil to a difficult location is. Again thank you and have a great evening. The pictures were very beneficial.
