Have minn Kota fortrex. Plastic ring (bearing top bracket) came off. Looks like it sets on top of the spring. Any idea how to get spring compressed down so I can try and fix? No way I'm mechanical inclined to take tm apart and put back together. Need to use it this weekend and would be at least a week before I could take to repair center.

Once the upper bushing pops out, it will continue. The bowguard needs to be replaced. To replace, the top of the trolling motor will be removed and the bowguard slide up and off the upper shaft. If it popped out from hitting something, the upper tube may be bent also.
