Has anybody else tried this? I put a rebarb hook on my dropshot with a bobber stop above and below the hook, If the bobber stop slides you can tie a knot below it to keep it from slipping. You can slide the hook up or down on the line to adjust the distance to the sinker.

The hook remains perfectly horizontal and with a little distance between the upper and lower stops the hook will spin and the line won't twist.

Haven't tried it. Not sure what the downside would be...can you think of any?

Seems like a good way to miss a fish. In my mind, the hook can easily slide down the line. The bobber stop isn't hard to move. With no knot tied to the hook that will create a lot of slack before the hook reaches the end of the line.

Why not tie the hook and change depth by sliding the weight up or down the line?

And there it is...makes sense. Hook would slide on the hook set.

There is a problem with this rig. At least it was for me. Hooked a good fish. As he fought, the bobber stop slid down the line to the drop shot sinker. The fish kept fighting until the sinker slid off the line followed by the bobber stop and the hook, which was in the fish.

That was the one thing I was worried about-that the bobber stop would slip on the hookset or fighting the fish.

Oh well.

but I see the hook set not being good and while fighting the fish your line being cut by the clip on the DS weight.
unless you are using a different kind of weight like a lead style bell sinker that has a true eye.

I use something like the OP's. Except I put a swivel between the hook and stoppers & the weight drop line. That way it won't slide down. I put about 20" of tail line & use old lead bullet sinkers pegged with a toothpick, to adjust as needed.
PS, a little knot on the end of the tag line will keep the pegged sinker from pulling off.

One tip with a bobber stop is to put it underneath your knot on a regular drop shot. It'll make the hook stand out straight every time.

Very good idea kind of like using bobber stops on a c-rig. Can adjust w/o having to re-tie.

Tie a Palomar knot with a long tag end. Pull the tag through the top of the eye and snap it down. The hook will stand straight out. Adjust hook to weight length by sliding the weight .....never the hook.

Exactly what I do, pull the palomar knot back through the eyelet of the hook with the tag end.

I wouldn't think a bobber stop would be tight enough on 8-12# line. I would think it would easily slip.
