I'm going to be coming to lake Whitney to largemouth bass fish in a couple weeks and have never been there before. I'm wanting to put in at Kimball Bend off 174 and fish down to lakeside villages area and even up the river from the 147 bridge. Im looking for someone to give me some advice on running the river and if it's safe, or something I don't need to do. If I don't need to run up there because of hazards where would be a safe bet to put in and start in the river? Like I say I have never been there and just curious as to what I need to do! Thanks for any and all advice!

On the upper end, there are trees and stumps just off each side of the channel...MAIN LAKE. way out from the banks. Be careful there. It's about 2-1/2 miles up past the bridge.
On the lower end, stay east of the island. It looks ok between the West Bank and the island. But it is very shallow. Just go around it.
Those are the only spots I know that are hard on a boat.
Eat. Sleep. Fish.
