Anybody in the north Dfw area running mega? Love to see it in person before making a decision. I run a garmin 7612xsv with down and forward looking panoptix....if your interested in seeing that. Love the panoptix and am going to keep it, but might run both. Mainly fish Lewisville and ray roberts. Even have a garmin 94sv that will run panoptix if you are considering that. Pm if interested.

Humminbird Helix Sonar Manuals fresh from the printer!!

I have received Sonar class requests as far away as Kentucky and have had students drive in from Louisiana and Oklahoma. The response has been overwhelming to my classes and I have really enjoyed seeing anglers excitement when things come together and they gain the skills to interpret their sonars. Not every angler that has contacted me has been able to trailer in to take my class, so I have written a manual for anglers.

It is a Humminbird Helix manual designed for anglers. The manual is 7 Chapters and 60 single-sided 8.5" by 11" pages with black & white and color images. The manual goes through every tab in the Helix Menu and into detail about specific settings and why I recommend those settings.

GPS and mapping, Helix Tabs and settings, Basic Sonar Shapes, a chapter dedicated to sonar interpretation, and understanding the 2-Dimensional image compression of a 3-Dimensional environment. Chapters using real sonar screens with explanations and interpretations to help you learn to better your skills at reading echo returns and included are practice screen shots.

There is a chapter that goes into Side and Down Imaging also. To give you a better understanding and explanation of what the screen can show you and how to read it.

This manual is designed be more user friendly and help anglers get more from their Sonar/Chartplotters and less technical than the supplied manuals that accompanied your units. In order to get the most benefit, I recommend using both together. For topics that you want the more information on, refer to the owner's manual to get technical specifics about a particular setting or feature.

The first 40 sold will be $40 and will include the cost of the manual, sales tax and shipping in the US. The printer is working on these right now and should be done in the next week. I am taking advance orders now you can pay by check or paypal friends/family. Please send me a PM here and I will follow up with you.

Thanks - Craig

Which unit do you think is better to have/buy a Helix 10 SI new or a 1199CI HD SI COMBO used? and Why?

Thanks,

The Helix series are better than the 1100 series. The Helix 10 is brighter and has better resolution than the 1100 as well. They both use the same transducer.

I would encourage you to spend a little more and get the Helix 10 CHIRP MEGA SI G2N. It is leaps and bounds better for only $200 price difference. If not, you will regret it.

It is more than that.
The Helix 9 replaced the 800 series.
The Helix 10 replaced the 900 series.
The Helix 12 replaced the 1100 series.

In my opinion the Helix 10 replaces the 1100 in quality and resolution, granted the screen is slightly smaller than the 1100 series. The Helix 12 is a standout and surpasses the 1100 even more with a larger screen than the 10. The MEGA is simply the best of the best and currently a stand alone when it comes to the best you can buy today. I have yet to see another company producing anything that is on par with the Helix MEGA.

I need some help...

I have a Solix 12 and a Helix 10 DI G2, Ethernet cable is in place, I updated both units to the latest software this weekend.

I can't seem to get the units to communicate. I can't see the other unit. All I need to do is share waypoints I create.

Ideas? I am missing something?

Are either units showing up in the network menus?

Have you checked the Nav Data menu to see if both unit's waypoints are displayed?
That is the only networking function you will have and it is not menu driven like when linking two SOLIX or two Helix.

Thanks Wayne. I will run and take a look. I didn't check that actually. I just can't see the Helix from the Solix and vice versa in the networking menu. On the previous boats I could see all the units on the network and could switch transducers, GPS location, etc.

I appreciate it. All I want to do is create and view waypoints from both units.

In the SOLIX Nav Data menu, the Helix waypoints will be listed as Helix in the Group column.
If you Import them from the Helix, they will be listed as My Data and will be in the SOLIX waypoint library.

Start the SOLIX up first and then the Helix.

Wayne- tried yesterday and no dice- no waypoints listed. Also, not sure when it happened exactly but my Helix 10 GPS isn't working at all. I see tracks from a couple previous trips but no more GPS location or current tracks. I am not sure if the problem started after I upgraded to the latest software or not. Any ideas?

If your not getting a gps lock your waypoints will not share. A lot of times GPS issues are caused by inadequate power. Either bad battery, bad connections, not powering directly to battery or dedicated power source.
