But, yes you will catch numbers on squaw creek.
throwing a square bill or spinner-bait up in the river should get your line pulled.
these cooler nights in august should help with the bite.

Admit that they are in 50 feet captain drop shot. Quit leading these boy the wrong way.

And there are plenty of places to catch fish where the water isn't 100.

Go to the creek area and the adjacent flats in the back towards the creek and throw a white pearl bandit 100 series shallow diver (rated 2-5 ft) on every piece of wood you see... if you can see the bottom and see wood then throw the crankbait in there and bounce it off... you will catch numbers back there right now. Can you also catch them deep? I'm sure you can... I'm just not confident enough in my deep bite presentation and my electronics aren't that good. Bone color yellow magic early or on a cloudy day can be lights out too. Good luck

Thanks so much for the pointers!

When you say "creek area" is that obvious where to go? I haven't been to Squaw before so I don't know if a direction (NE, SW, etc. is needed). Just looking on google maps looks like there are lots of coves and creeks.

Head north from the boat ramp. Do not run on plane up north if you do not know it.

Easy lake to navigate. Squaw Creek is the main river that feeds the lake. They will give you a little copy of a topo map of the lake when you enter the gate. When you come out of the ramp cove into the main lake take a right and head up the lake. Stay about 50 yards off that main lake right(east) bank and you can run on plane to the first big row of trees. Since you are not familiar just trim up a little and idle from here all the way up into the river staying in creek channel all the way. This upper reaches are stumpy but easy to get around. The rest of the lake is pretty much "what you see is what you get". Stay wide of points and island and don't run into coves and you can pretty much run the entire rest of the lake on plane. Open 7am till 4pm(Have to have boat loaded by 4). Thursday-Monday. They usually let you through gate around 6:30am. $30 CASH launch fee($20 for county residences). No reservations needed till the cooler weather arrives but doesn't hurt to make one. Enjoy & post results. https://www.luminant.com/squaw-creek-park/
