We live in Houston. If someone has a Jon boat they can't use and are willing to sell, we are interested in buying it just to help.

Here's what you do. Download the app Zello on your phone. This is the app being used to communicate. Add the stations "The Cajun Navy" and "Houston Harvey." There are dispatchers using the website houstonharveyrescue.com to direct folks to areas where people still need help. They are using satellite images and intimate area knowledge to guide you to places that are likely launch points.

Finding accessible launch points to the hard hit neighborhoods is one of the biggest challenges right now.

I'm not saying not to go, but as others have said there are thousands of boats down there, many of which are not being used much simply because it's just not possible to get to some places still needing help. I.e. you'd have to cross water, then dry land then water repeatedly.

furniture dollys can be useful down here navigating these conditions with a small boat. reality is people need a place to go, food and drink, clothes. I 10 was jammed with boats yesterday trying to help people in the hotel.

Large group just left nacogdoches headed south to Kountze at a staging point. That's the closest you can get to Beaumont. That area is completely flooded and boats needed due to Houston being the focus past few days. Hwy 69 Lufkin south to Kountze is only passable road

They have turned away boats for two reasons. Looters and armed robbers...

I just got back from north Houston yesterday. Worked rough the night and day around north lake Houston drive. We found a whole community needing rescue. Called in help from the police and others in the Cajun navy. Took us all day, but by the end of the day we were able to get most of that neighborhood safe. Started off just me and 2 buddies and by the end of the day we had 3 army trucks, a chopper, and 50+ boats in there. I figure we rescued well over 150 in our boat alone. There are still plenty of areas needing help, you just have to find a way to get to them.

Beaumont areas, and louisiana areas will need boats.

On another forum a man is in contact with a woman he went to school with. Her and her family has spent the night in a tree and still waiting for someone to rescue them. Location is in Orange Tx.

Thank you to anyone wanting to come help. I live about 2 miles south of Kountze and we are cut off from those people and Silsbee and Beaumont. As of right now Kountze is an island and they are letting water out of Dam B that they are concerned about. The water is still rising a bit but the rain finally stopped. My family and I are high and dry and the generator running. There are tons of boats here and I am sure more are welcome.

The water has never been this high ever. Until the water comes down you can not get to Beaumont or Pt. Arthur.

Actually you can if with a group to help. They will let you by. I had friends come in from Nacogdoches down to evadale then to vidor and orange after lunch today. They made it to orange. Just so many isolated patches of people that you can't get to. Dam b could go to wide open gates including floods soon and that all goes to Beaumont. The road logistics are changing constantly so do go randomly without speaking to someone. The zello app is being monitored with lots of groups on different stations.
