Hey guys, I have a hitch rated for 3500 lbs. Just bought a 18ft fiberglass skeeter starfire with a dual axle trailer. 135 Johnson outboard. Any idea on what the total weight with gas and gear would be? Not sure if my hitch can handle it...

You can check the engine & hull weights at nada guides boat values. Not sure about the trailer though.

Ballpark numbers:

Boat 1400
Motor 300
Trailer 1,000
Trolling motor: 80
3 batteries 60
15 gal. gas 100

With misc. gear you're *around* 3k ... might want to get it weighed though.

If in doubt, always error on the side of caution and get a more durable hitch. They aren't that expensive and the peace of mind knowing you have the right equipment for the job is priceless.
