I have Cabela's guide wear gore tex and an Arctic Armor suit for the sub 40 degree days. I have had zero issues with either of them in the last 3 years.

I have Marmot jacket I use for the hotter months. It packs better in the boat so I can always keep it in there, and it is more comfortable than my Goretek in weather above 70 degrees. It still gets warm if you are just wearing it with no rain, but it feels great when it is raining and do don't suffocate in it during the summer. I am sure any hiking style rain jacket would be just fine, but here is the one I have: http://www.marmot.com/men-jackets-and-ve...lor=001#start=1

If you're near a Cabelas it's worth a look into the bargain cave once in awhile as the one in Allen occasionally has guidewear in there for good price, I'm even thinking of picking up an extra set next time I see in my size.

I love my Guidewear from Cabelas. I wore it for a week in Canada and lots of tournaments, can't think of a complaint. I looked at the BPS stuff but for me I liked the look, feel and build quality of Guidewear. I bought a set for my son too. IF you buy it at the right time of year it's reasonably priced. I bought mine for $399 each (like an idiot) and it went on sale 2 weeks later. I think I ended up getting them for $225 each for the latest model, you could get the prior year model for even less.

http://www.basspro.com/shop/en/bass-pro-shops-200-mph-gore-tex-rain-parka-for-men%3A-2247626 I don't know. But, I saw them today and the price....AND THEY CAN TAKE EM BACK IN! I looked them over really well. The 200 MPH set has no ability to add a inner liner for winter. The hood is non-detachable, and too big to stay on any persons head. They were lightweight....that I liked. They say Gortex Pro on the sleeve, so I'd assume they would look good behind a Solix or Carbon fish finder. Haha. But! They are $100 more than the already pricey 100MPH jacket. So I bought a 100MPH jacket for $249. I plan on buying the liner too, when they eventually have them in stock. But, doing the math, I will still be spending too much. The liner is $169!!! Gonna be a $419 jacket to go with my $229 bibs and $100 gloves! Why does this sport have to be so expensive? I know I could simply wear a trash bag over my hoodie and be out there on the water in the rain for $20...but the doctor visit after I'd catch pneumonia would negate the savings.

This sport is not cheap. Im a totally catch and release kind of person which confuses my wife even more. lol

Well after the last few days down here I realize my rain gear suks. Guess I'm in the market for new gear now I'll be down there Friday evening, after work. Hopefully I don't need to use my new jacket. I have to go down and check on our beach house. My neighbors said it is fine, but I think I need to see it for myself.

Everything I've seen Galveston is in good shape had a lot of rain but not strong winds. Be safe on the way down. I'm gonna go ahead and say you won't need a rain jacket Friday
