I want to buy my father a rod and reel for bank fishing stripers. What's a good rod and spinning reel combo?

Shimano Bait Runner For the reel, and there are several good rods. 7' MH Ugly Sticks are what I use, and I also use a couple of my medium Pro Anglers sometimes. I'm not sure where you guys are fishing, but I'm thinking bank fishing for Stripers might be a pretty tough for most of the year.
