I recently bought a used Hobie Adventure Island. I got a good deal on it and it had only been on the water twice for about an hour each time. It was in pristine condition. The original owner purchased it in 2016 but it was a 2013 model (unsold in dealer inventory). I took it on its maiden voyage a few weeks ago and about 3 hours in to my fishing trip I opened the center hatch and noticed that it was completely full of water. I drained it on shore and sailed back to the boat ramp and it was already full of water by the time I got to the ramp. It had a terrible leak (I also got skunked). Fortunately it was still covered under warranty. I took it to Mariner Sails in Dallas and they swapped it out for a brand new 2014 model hull. So, I now have a brand new 2014 AI hull and all of the other parts are still in perfect shape. I took it out today and it worked/sailed perfectly and I even caught a few fish both with my regular rod and my fly rod. Big "THANK YOU" to Mariner Sails. I bought my Outback from them and had an issue a few years ago with the mirage drive and they took care of me then too. I also got to meet the infamous Adrian Acosta while I was at Mariner Sails. I'm looking forward to some serious fishing/sailing my new AI that I've named "DROPshot."

Wow! That is a pretty impressive warranty story! It must be that when a unit is new and hasn't sold for several model years that it comes with a new warranty when purchased. Makes sense to me.
I think it could be a great fishing platform, one YouTube video several years ago showing one angler with one decked out for fishing claiming it was the best.
Do you fish with the two amas extended? Can you retract them, or one of them, while you are out in deep water?
I think several of us will be interested in hearing how things work. Hey! In windy Texas, you'll be able to do things, go places, achieve speeds others won't.
More details when you get a chance!

So far I have fished with the akas out and it worked. They are very easy to retract and it only takes about 3 seconds. Today I went from one end of Lake Weatherford to the other, something I never did with my Outback. It was easy with a nice wind to push me along. I didn't put my trampolines on yet but I'm hoping they will help with reducing the water spray.
