Hey guys, thanks in advance for your help. I'm building a thumper and would like any helpful input. I have a friend that just built one and it works well but seems a little slow. He used a 30rpm motor. I'm thinking of using a 40rpm motor.
I have already found a bunch of motor manufacturers and motor controllers. Does anyone recommend one manufacturer over another?
I can build one for less than $50, So spending a few extra bucks for better parts is no big deal. I will be glad to share pics and information of my build as well as where to buy the parts and exactly what I use. Again Thanks in advance for your help!!

OK thanks I will check it out. Does anyone have experience with what RPM motor works best for hammer type thumper? My buddy used a 30rpm motor but it seems a little slow. The fish like it, just not my ears. Thanks

I built one using an old 60s Mustang 2 speed windshield motor (any 60s or 70s era would do). They are cheap. Its a 3 wire system and can be setup with a 2 way switch to operate on high or slow speed. Im not sure of the RPMs, but fast is almost too fast so I usually leave it on slow speed. Build a 3 arm armateur with a roller bearing at end of each arm to contact the hammer. Pretty straightforward design. Since I already had the motor in my garage from an old car rebuild project, cost me less than $12 to build.

I really didn't intend for this to turn into a commercial. I was looking for useful detailed information like exactly what parts and where to purchase. This one was built for $37 and definitely works, just thought I might be able to make improvements on the next one with helpful information from guys who have built their own for personal use.
