stringwise - Would there ever be a need to run a second puck and wire down to the TM foot? This would be a problem not being able to attach the cable. - I fish a lot of heavy brush so the foot peddle is a must. Is this a problem? - I only fish open water 1/3 of the day. Don't want to be cussing the foot peddle 2/3 of the day. - How do you have the TM head secured for running rough water? Donald, there is no feedback on electronic steer foot controls so if you expect to use that 2/3 of a day you won't be happy. You have to look at the head to see where you are going. There is no stop, they'll just spin. I have a terrova which has a couple other buttons on it and two of them allow for toe tapping them to steer. With that, I can tap it once or twice and know how far the head will turn just to make a small correction in stump fields. Other than that, those foot controls are just in the way. Everyone that I have heard for either brand use the remotes. I could swap mine for an XI5 and be fine because I use the remote 99.9% of the time but I'd have a heck of a time trying to control a cable steer because I never learned how. If you're accustomed to them then you should take an ultrex for a test ride before deciding.

There was a thread like this a couple months ago and I wound up getting suckered into buying an Ultrex. Next to marrying my wife, it's maybe the best thing I ever did.
I was up north Musky fishing a week ago by myself. I'd set the thing to run a weedline and then fish from the back of the boat. This let me figure 8 away from the trolling motor and lower chance of spooking a hot fish. You can save the trail, up to 2 miles I think, and then the thing will let you retrace the path forwards or backwards exactly. Hook a fish and tap spot lock and your not going anywhere until you get beast back in the water. Just awesome.

I am the proud owner of a 190TZX with a 4stroke Yamaha. Not too big, not too smal.....and runs 60 fully loaded. Bought it from a forum member! The boat is literally like new. Just an FYI everyone. Post an alternate means of contact in your ads for folks like me that get put in "timeout" on occasion. If this seller had not posted his phone number, I would not have been able to buy it and mount my Ultrex on it (<<<staying on topic ) Congrats, Steez!

I have an early model Ultrex and haven't had any problems with it. It is the 24V model. Only issue with it has been that it doesn't find enough fish for me to catch. LOL
It is an amazing trolling motor.

I've had an Ultrex 112lb.52"shaft since October 2016,and have had zero problems and it gets used several times a week. It's the BEST thing I've ever bought for my Champion boat. The Spotlock feature is awesome.I liked the Ultrex so much on my Champion,I just purchased another Ultrex for my Xpress flatbottom.Get an Ultrex, you want regret it and will wonder how you fished without an Ultrex. Well that's just not fair... you have 2! Lol Christmas is coming soon if you wanna get a 3rd for a gift In all seriousness, go with Ultrex and never look back

I've heard they drain battery. Is that not the case? No more than if your foot was pushing the button running the T/M. If the T/M is running, it is draining the battery no matter if it is running itself or you are running it. When it is not running....it is not draining the battery.

Never heard that before and I've never experienced it, if anything I think it's very easy on my battery's.

The Ultrex is real easy on batteries. It doesn't use anymore than a Fortrex. I had a Fortrex before the Ultrex an the charge time is the same,if not a little quicker with the Ultrex. The Ultrex is a very efficient trolling motor.

I bought an Ultrex back in June... didn't work right out of the box. I've spent two months waiting on Minn Kota to replace the bad circuit board inside the foot pedal. It works now, but not good QA on the part of MK.

Ok, I want to tell my Ultrex story. On April 26, I ordered the $2200 model from Tackle Warehouse. A 45 inch shaft, 36 volt 112 pound thrust model. I paid via PayPal and they took the money via credit card transfer. It was promptly back ordered with an early June delivery date and then a late June delivery date and then an August 24th delivery date. But, I've not received it yet so I suspect a September or October or November or whatever delivery date. Now I know I can cancel the order and get the refund and order again but other sources indicate items will be placed on back order. So I'm sure they're nice. I'm sure they are nice! Maybe I should call MinnKota.
