Hey guys! So I just started fishing stocked rainbows these last 2 seasons and I am gonna get a lettile more serious and head to the Guadalupe to get some biggens! I have a 5ft Light Ugly Stik (original) already and am going to be upgrading! I want something at LEAST 5'6 or 6'6 UL - Was thinking of putting a Shimano Sedona or Pfluger President on one-- also heard great things about the KastKing Sharky II. ANyway, let me know what you guys think!
Thanks!

This rod would get my vote as well. I have a 6'6" version and have caught everything from panfish on it up to 10lb hybrids on topwater (just for fun). Good rod for the money. I have a Sedona (I think, I'd have to look) 500series reel on it, use 4lb mono for little stuff and 8lb braid when I want to have fun and fight a hybrid on it. Stop by BPS and look at them, one of the few things BPS has I'd recommend over somewhere else.
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space!

Living in New Mexico for many years, I have UL trout fished a lot. I have many UL spin rods the latest is a Pfluger President on an Okuma Celilo 7' (2 piece) $60 rod for more open water. For brushy and rocky stream/rivers I like a 5-6' UL like the ST Croix Panfish UL rods for $99. Use one piece UL rods in the 5-6' range. Anything I can toss a small jig or spinner a long distance with 1-4# test mono. I also have some inexpensive rods for the really rough fishing, hiking and wading in serious mountain streams so getting a broken rods isn't so heart breaking. There use to be some daiwa one piece 5' UL rods that were really inexpensive I have four of those.

St. Croix Panfish rod...7' with Shimano Sedona...it's what caused my addiction! Worth every penny twice over and I am a tight wad.

If I were to get a 5'6 UL or 6'6 UL, what size pfluger pres would you put on, 20 or 25?

Custom built ULs are my specialty. You don't want to go over 6' but 5'- 5'6' is the best. And you want one that is FAST action. UL is all I use. Put a 1000 or 2000 series reel on it and no more than 6 lb test line. I am a Shimano man myself but the Pflueger President model 6930x is a good reel for the money.

I definitely want a 5'6 and will be going 4 or 6 lb mono with a 4lb fluro leader -- shimano sedona was my close 2nd actually-
