when my dad was living,I heard these ol' sayings....wind out the east, fish bite the least, wind out the west, fish bite the best, wind out the south, catch'em in the mouth....unfortunately I never heard one about a north wind, lol! I have read posts on here where members caught fish and the wind was out of the east....

My dad used to say the same thing but the best day I've ever had bass fishing was in an east wind.
To whom much is given, much is required.

Most east and north wind days are bad fishing. Change in weather, and it changes the natural south wind current. I've had a few days where the fishing has been good after fronts but the folk tales usually hold true.

Wind from the east - fish if you are off work wind from the west - fish if you are off work wind from the South - see above wind from the north - see above the above.

LOL This! I'm never going to concern myself over something I can't change! Best time to fish is anytime I can! Best time for fish to bite is when my jigs in their face! I've never put much stock into their not biting today! There's days I can't figure them out for sure, but I wake up hungry every day! I never wake up and say East wind? Heck, I'm not gonna eat today!

Awesome Slewfoot. That is so true. It is not always about the catching for me. It is the trying.

There was also that thread from a local guide who swears by and constantly watches barometric pressure. But it was also stated that the pressure affects fish nearer the surface than down deep. Truth be told, it's probably a combination of several factors that gives them lockjaw for a day or so, but they gotta eat sometime.
Fishin' to stock Lake Crisco.

If I listened to North wind fairy tales, I would have never caught an over 3! 47 degrees and a nice stiff 12-15 mph wind equated to 7 fish over 2 with a 3 lb 2 oz kicker!
