Just wondering if anybody was out fishing during the eclipse Monday, as well as just before & just after. It does not matter if you were using R-n-R or set lines.
Here locally in the B-CS (Texas A&M) area, we had a blockage of about 68.7% at the most. Here, it began at 11:43 AM (Central Daylight Time). The max was at 1:11 PM. And it ended here at 2:42 PM.
Naturally I had to work. But even though it was light outside, it had this weird tint or hue, and slightly less bright look around. I walked out of the shop & the shade just a few minutes before the max (about 1 PM), and as I stepped out of the shade, into the sunlight, I honestly did not feel a temperature shift. If I did, it was very minimal. As I drove to get a bite of lunch, I had my shades (tinted safety glasses) on, and with only about 31.3% it was still very light outside but looked real weird & also dim, all at the same time.
But about 3:50 PM after an hour of the eclipse ending, it was smoking hot outside & rays reflected off the other vehicles parked by the shop.
So if your were fishing, did you note anything different during the eclipse? I understand the one in 2024 is supposed to darken Dallas, as to what my Mother heard. It is supposed to cut through Texas, so I will have to research that one.

I fished 7:00-2:30. Had the best fishing I've had on Proctor. I literally had doubles and triples of mostly channel cats but also had a few nice eater blues. Fish were mostly 2-5#. All caught drifting shad. I was finding the white bass on humps then drifting through them. Cats were below. Bite died right after eclipse. It was a great day to fish! Only saw 2 other boats all day

Yes, the April 2024 eclipse will cut through Dallas and curve towards the northeast. Carbondale, Illinois is at the crossroads as they will be in the next eclipse also.
You are correct about the shift in color. Everything here in Dallas had a slight bluish tint to it.
Fishin' to stock Lake Crisco.

It was said, as for those in the path of totality, that the temperature drop could be as much as 20 degrees. It must have been really neat to see the stars during the day.
So it seems that the bite picked up during the eclipse. That was my initial thoughts beforehand, due to the fast cool down, the downgrading of solar rays (as to the Moon blocking them or trimming them down), and the Moon drawing back (crude analogy: acting in a similar way as you would have a candle lit, by placing the flat blade of a knife near it, then blow the blade. Even though you are blowing in one direction, the flame comes towards the blade.)
Thanks for everybody's input! Perhaps others that fished, will share their experience as well.
