I am looking for opinions on a punching rod for punching thick hydrilla.. I am not wanting one too long because I have short arms. I am wanting one around a 7'6" extra heavy something with a thick base, and handle a heavy weight, something with some backbone. Please post brands series of the rod you would use.. kinda on a tight budget so something you might know for around $100 range..

Thanks.

Dobyns Fury 765 FLIP might be an option for you. Rated for up to 2oz and is only $109.99.

H2O Ethos 7'6" heavy. Very budget friendly.

The 7'6" is an Xheavy. The 7'3" is a regular heavy. (<<<<what I use for punching)

The cheaper, $69 rod is better. Fuji guides and seat and the guides are a little thicker/stronger and not so "micro".

Wish I knew where there was some hydrilla to punch. I've seen a little here and there but didn't have to punch it.

Believe it or not... there are 2 lakes in the middle of the metromess that have lots of hydrilla. More than enough to punch, from isolated clumps all the way to big ole mats with 2-4ft of water under them.

One is Clark Lake in Ennis. Don't know if it is "real Hydrilla" or some other junk we call Hydrilla, it it's thick and has fish under it. So thick I have to use a 1-1/2ounce tungsten pegged weight to bust through it. Even use a 2 ounce "bubba shot" to blow through it sometimes.

I've fished Clark before and it has something similar to hydrilla and the water is super clear but all I caught was dinks. What I call hydrilla is what I USED to fish at Fork, Rayburn, TB, Welch and B. Sandlin and you could find it out to 15 FOW. I'm hearing it's back at Rayburn in places but it's a 4 1/2 hr. drive so not ready to drive that far at least until the weather cools some.

Well....

No dinks here! At least not when punching. Fished a small tourney there a few weeks ago and thought our 19 lb sack would be good.....finished second to last! A few fish over 7 pounds were weighed....not single fish under 2 pounds was weighed.
