Who is towing their 21' bass boat (2,200 lbs.) with their Tacoma. I'm thinking about downsizing from my 5.7 Tundra. I don't travel tow much, mostly 0 to 10 miles. Tacoma looks like it has a 4,600 tow cap. Is that real world or does it struggle?

I would bet that bass boat rig is closer to 5000 lbs when you add trailer, motor, gas, and gear. I would want a full size half ton to do it, even on short trips, but that's just me.

Yeah your right, Skeeter has the boat listed at 2200.

I would take it by a scale and weigh it.

I would almost pull it 0-10 miles with a 4 cylinder car, Tacoma will do that all day. I'm sure it would do longer trips fine also, just wouldn't be my choice.

no way it is 5000. My Champ 2200 Bay scaled at 4620 with 50 gallons of gas

Towing would not be a problem. I'm not sure how the braking would be. I'd take a test drive with the boat hooked behind the Tacoma before I bought it.

I had a 2013 Taco and now have a 2016. My boat and trailer weigh in around 2000. I pull it to Amistad, Falcon, up to LBJ, no problem. Toyota went from a 4.0 to a 3.5 and upped the horse power from 248 to 278 with a longer stroke. My Taco pulls just fine and I get 15 mpg with the boat and 21 without. Towing cap. is 6800.
