Good question and I believe the answer. I stopped by the local BPS this afternoon and showed the guys at the humminbird counter these pics and video of the graph jumping around. They asked the same question. I looked at the settings in the humminbird last night and there were multiple DI transducer options to choose, and I have it set on a DI setting. They explained that ducer in the head of the TM is not a DI ducer. So basically I have the wrong transducer selected. I like the DI aspect so I'll out the original ducer back on and see how well that works. Thanks for the help guys.

If you are going to use a DI transducer on the trolling motor use the correct one for that application--a trolling motor PUCK. They have extra internal shielding to help with possible RFI from the trolling motor. Two choices:

XTM 9 DI 25 T
XTM 9 WIDE DI 20 T

Helix 12 CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G3N and G4N, 1198c SI, SOLIX 10 SI G3,
Helix 8 MEGA SI+ GPS G4N, SOLIX 12 SI and G3, MEGA 360, MEGA LIVE TL, RC-1

I was planning on using the stock transducer that came with the humminbird. The stock is the XNT 9 DI T. Do the other two models you mention improve the performance in any way? I suspect an upgrade in the humminbird may be in the works for next spring so I don't want to invest not to invest again later.

Ok. I'll look at the puck style. That may very well solve everything.
