Have a property rented for the week connected to the bay. I am a yankee that is used to fishing for LMB and if I fished salt, it was for flounder or stripers. What am I doing!?!? I have no idea what's in season or what to use right about now. Any info is appreciated.

It would take four pages to give you a clue. It's some of the best fishing in the country. Hire a guide and get right in the middle of it.

Fishing is good right now. Lots of fish being caught. Redfish drifting grass flats are really good.

Use any of your LMB lures.. preferable any of the dog walkers in bone, spinner baits are good as well unless there is a lot of fine floating grass. Small chuggers are ok as well but I find the walking lures do a little better. Many fishing the grass flats will switch out the hooks for single live bait hooks with rings (no. 1's) on a spook jr. or zara spook. Other colors that are good are clown and silver.. really anything silver or natural looking will be fine. Grubs work great for reds as well.

All that said I just released a soft plastic that is designed to be fished weightless and it walks the dog and it cast very well. The biggest problem this time of year is the floating grass.. it can fowl your hooks instantly or within 5 feet or some cast come away ok.. even with single hooks. So plan to be fishing something weedless. even if it's just using a weedless Johnson Spoon.

Rinse your lures and rod off with fresh water after the outing each day. Don't spray it hard with nozzle or shower head, just very light or no nozzle at all.. dry off with towel. Drop of WD 40 or some light oil on reel handle. If you dunk your reel have it cleaned immediately (full take down).

We love SPI, great place.. Last time down, just after Labor Day, had the beaches to ourselfs...
Also, don't remember the name, but we took a head boat out for King's, I believe snapper season was closed. But we caught some big ones over 14 lb average, the Kings were 12-14 lbs except one that top 30 lbs, it was huge.. The cost was very reasonable, especially right after the holiday.. You'll enjoy it, some good food there too.
