Are they? Doc's orders, got to wear them mowing, baling & showering - got to keep dirt, dust &c out of the ears and also have to keep them dry.
Fishing, a man knows a serenity of soul and peace of mind that he finds in doing nothing else, and it makes no difference whether or not he catches anything. The mind of a true fisherman is not on petty subjects.

They are meant to be consumable for safety and cleanliness after each use. Pending task at hand with the proper hygienic practice and techniques can and may be used multiple times as the individuals acceptance criteria dictates and is established on a case by case basis

Get the silicone plugs that are on a cord. Easy, small, and washable. I use them when mowing or sawing.

Being outside and around water a lot, got to keep those ear canals clean.
I used the ear plugs, but they would pop out.
What has worked for me (under doctor's supervision) Mix one cc (ml) of clear/white vinegar with one cc (ml) of rubbing alcohol. Draw up the 2ml (2cc) total solution in a 5 cc syringe. Gently inject 1 cc of the solution into each ear every evening and before and after swimming to irrigate and clear the ear canals. Haven't had any issues since.
Talk with your Doctor first

BTW - they are washable, at least to the extent I've left them in pockets many many many times and they got washed and dried. I'm sure I've used the again afterwards. Not necessarily on purpose, but they seemed to be just lie new if i remember right.

There used to be a TV show called Cheapskates, or some such. Had a guy on there that actually separated 2-ply toilet paper and wrapped the single ply back around an empty roll for his family to use.
I bet he washed his earplugs.

Not necessarily on purpose, but they seemed to be just lie new if i remember right. I can attest to this myself. I've also hand washed them. They turn out better when you just leave them in a pocket.
