What are the best screws/fasteners to attach rod holders to an aluminum boat. Bolts would be ideal, but due to gunwale design I don't think I would be able to get nuts on all of them. Never had an issue on glass boats with regular thread stainless screws. Just wondering if they would bite good enough on alum to hold up. Thanks

Rivnuts work real well and come in stainless. Plus Nuts are similar and would work well. My cousin used some stainless lag screws on his aluminum boat and they are holding up so far, but he fishes about 8 times a year and doesn't catch much. They feel pretty solid when you push and pull on them, but I'm not convinced they will stay for the long haul.

Show us some pics of the rails mike. If you have a slide track system like most Xpress and SeaArks have these from monster rod holders work great. No holes to drill, rock solid, and easily adjustable if you decide you don't like the location of them.

http://monsterrodholders.com/shop/slidetrack-45/

We have 10 of these down the sides of our Xpress with 33/45s from monster rod holders on them and it's the best setup I have found yet.

I used self tapping galvanized sheet metal screws on my Express and they have held great.

No, almost got a sportsman, but I would rather have a glass boat for rough water purposes. I will send you a pic tomorrow.
