how you not know a storm coming in or you think a lot of people try to fish thru them? Seems like you could beach the boat in million places quick if need be. But either way thats a shame for him and his family. angel

Haven't heard what happened yet, but saw the game warden boats all over the mouth of Birch and Duck Call cove most of yesterday. Nobody is right or wrong... life jacket, storm or otherwise in these types of situations. All we can do is pray and support the family for a fellow fisherman on our beloved waters. There are a variety of factors which none of us know other than speculation...

As far as the storm front/winds go.. I was within a mile of that location at the time and didn't witness any huge wind fronts or warnings that would put any doubt on one's judgment.

Prayers sent for the family.

Prayers for his family. Will probably never know what happened. I always wear my life jacket when I am driving the boat, but don't wear one while fishing. I still can't grasp the concept of those situations where someone goes in the water and never resurfaces. Just don't understand how that happens.

It happens. Heart attack, stroke, hitting your head on the way out, hitting your head on something in the water, getting hung on something underwater, getting knocked out from the impact of hitting the water, etc, etc..... All ways that someone can not resurface.
NEVER SAY NEVER and it CAN happen to you.

in a day when the technologies are now to the point of being able to purchase a light inflatable life preserver why some don't spend the money and wear one all the time on the water is beyond me.

once you have it on you won't even think about it for the whole time you are on the water.

your life is worth a lot more than $200 bucks.

prayers go out to his family

Exactly. I used to think the same thing, how does that happen. Many years ago, I nearly kicked a rod off the deck and when I went down to catch it, I put my hand on the gunnel (which had just been waxed), hand slipped, I face planted on the gunnel and in Cypress Springs I went. Knocked a tooth loose, cut my lip and got a bloody nose. Come up out of the water spitting blood and water. Luckily I wasn't knocked out, but it could have easily happened.

Prayers for this man's family and friends, such a tragedy.

Keep the Lord in your heart and keep your powder dry.
