I've always used mono since the one time I tried braid (the cheap power pro from walmart) I hated it.. Decided to try again today. 2 Concept C's with #30 Windtamer, and a Curado 70HG/Concept TX with #30 832.. So far after casting in the street, I'll continue using Windtamer over 832. Just curious to see if there is any other braids out there that I should try before keeping my mind set on Fins.

Knot question... I tied the braid to a #12 Sufix Superior mono leader with a crazy alberto knot.. I know this knot is "practice makes perfect," but the knot doesn't seem to pass through my guides too well.. I don't know if I'm tying it wrong or what. Are there any other knots y'all recommend to tie braid to mono with?

Yeah, FG and double uni are both good line to line knots

FG knot is slow to tie at first, but is the strongest and offers the least resistance when going through the guides. I can tie it in a little over a minute now. Still slow, but I tie a long leader on use it until there isn't much left.

PowerPro has one set of reccommendations for all their products when it comes to knots. I'm guessing their choices would work well with any braid since all have fibers that are hard and slick - that's what gives them the similar characteristics.

Uni Knot - For tying terminal tackle-stronger knot

I've never had any issue with a uni-knot for any braid product. I do add an extra twist or two, especially at the lower pound tests.

FG knot, it will not fail when correctly tied. BTW, Power Pro is good line. thumb

I have just learned (last six months) the FG. I just ordered the Daichi Seiko Knot Assist 2.0. It's sole purpose is to help tie the FG (it acts as a pair of hands to keep line taught while you do your wraps).

I will say though that I have always used a blood knot on braid to mono/fluoro when the diameters are similar and never had a problem. Landed a lot of redfish, black drum, and trout with that knot. The problem with the blood knot is that it is hard to tie right as well.

The guys at Salt Strong ran some not comparisons (playoff bracket style) for different types of knots - so check that out.

Other good resources are:

https://www.animatedknots.com/indexfishing.php
https://www.netknots.com/fishing_knots
http://www.berkley-fishing.com/Berkley-a...hing-knots.html

Think they cover everything except the knot Shaw Grigsby shows on youtube (type Shaw Grigsby fluorocarbon knot) and the Power Knot (there is a nice picture on the web of this one --- look in images).

Fred Roubanis has a video of joining Gliss to fluoro ---- you can google that if you need it -- it may be covered on one of the other sites.

After going through all of these, I picked 3 knots for every situation and wrote them down on index cards. I still need to reference something on a few of them from time to time because I do not use them all often. Some are stronger knots, some are easier to tie, some are better for different materials, etc.
