I am looking for a kayak bed extender for my truck and wanted to see what everyone used and what would be the best option that won't break the bank

Lots of choices, from cheap at Harbor Freight to $100+ extenders.

Harbor Freight has them for around 60-70.

I have one and have used it for longer drives. For local trips (under 40 miles) I don't feel the need to use it. And one time I forgot about it on a 200 mile trip and frankly did not feel any less secure just putting the tailgate down and making sure I had redundant cords/lines in place to make sure the yak did not fall off the back. And don't forget to clip a red flag on the end of your yak.

I have a short bed truck and a 14' boat so I picked one up at Harbor Freight. I also added lights to mine to help with the rides in the dark.

I recently infected my fishing buddy with the kayak acquisition bug, and he bought a new Wildy Radar 135! We took it to his (RV) home with my bed extender(a five foot piece of scrap 2 x 2 steel, with an upright and a crossbar made of water pipe, covered with pool noodles and Sch 20 PVC pipe over that). It worked perfectly. I told him I could make him one, cheap.

He declined, and bought a T-Bone Aluminum bed extender. It's light, well-designed and is very adjustable. Just short of $200. Now, when we go yakking, he takes it off and stores it inside his truck, to avoid being teefed!

My $15 bed extender is ugly enough to never be stolen. No paint, just rust! The T-Bones are nice, just outside my budget.

Off the subject, how does your buddy like his Radar 135, been looking to upgrade and have been very interested in the Radar 115/135.
