Had a customer ask for feathers instead of deer tail. Maybe it's because I started out with hair that I prefer it. It just seems like feathers are a little more tedious and less forgiving on placement on the hook. What are y'alls thoughts? Prefer one over the other?

Feathers do look nicer than hair to me.
Actually, since hair always wants to twist, I think feathers is just as easy to tie too.

VERY nice ties ..... second one down should be killer this time of year!

I guess I've not noticed the twist in the hair because it fans out at the hook. I have run across feathers turning any which way if you don't have a death grip on them when wrapping the thread.

Thanks for the positive feedback on them!

Good looking ties. Are you using hackle or maribo?

WMB. If you need some chicken feathers let me know I'll bring them by. I can get you brown black or white.

If I can give my chickens a little salmonella and pluck from the rectal area. I might get close to chartreuse. Will that work for you. Lol

Depends on what I'm fishing for, but I mostly use feathers. I do use hair if I'm fishing for hard fighting or fish with teeth. Hair holds up better... IMO thumb
