two porcupine fish structures I made of schedule 40 pvc. They were both anchored down with concrete in two home depot bucket. I drop them in the lake the other day in 15 FOW. When I circled around to mark them I could`nt find them on 2D sonar , Side scan sonar or down image. It should have been easy enough to recognize there signature with all those pvc pipes going every which a way but They were`nt where I thought they should have been. I must have circled around about 30-45 min looking for those things and never did.My question is has anyone else ever had this experience before with pvc being difficult to find on the lake bottom?I guess I`ll give it another try on another day but for future reference what did I do wrong and what should I have done to ensure finding the next couple that I drop?

pvc has close to the same density as water (1.1 to 1) there for it doesn't show up as well as brush.

Next time try adding some dowel rods to some of the PVC tubes so you can get a signal bouncing back. Or a few pieces of wood in the bucket with the PVC.

If you didn't turn your sensitivity way up, try that, and look for the signature of the buckets on the bottom.

I always drop a bouy when deploying a new pile .
That way I can drop the additional pieces in close proximity to the first.
When done , I mark the gps way point at the bouy , then pick it up.
That being said , pvc shows up just fine on my finders,

You got this, Horace. You da man. And don't worry about the office, it's slowwwwwwwwwwwww. I caught like 4 dinks in 3 hours Friday morning.

Good luck on the piles!

For what it's worth, one year I sunk pvc. Then about a boat length away, I sunk bamboo. Then another boat length, I sunk willows. The willows held the most fish, the bamboo produced some one the biggest fish and the pvc was hit or miss.
