Why I'll never own anything with more than a 4spd auto trans. Those new 6+ speed trannys are stupid expensive to work on. Might as well throw the vehicle away and buy a new one, that's what the manufacturers want anyway, to keep us in payments for ever.
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space!

I just rebuilt mine this spring by myself. Cost about $90 and I was done in 4 hours, piddling and drinking the whole time. It's a 3 speed though. Mates up to a 305 V6. If I was you and i was going to spend that kinda money, I'd just go with the GM rebuild and get that dealership warranty.
