I have been at Surfside Beach this past week using a Spinning Rod rigged with 8 lb Trilene XL throwing a 3/4 oz. gold spoon in the surf. I have caught a lot of fish but have probably missed just as many due to poor hook sets with the stretchy line and long casts. I plan to switch this rod & reel over to braid to eliminate the stretch and improve the feel. I was thinking about Suffix 832, PowerPro or Fireline. Any recommendations?

20# powerpro has been the most consistent for me.

I have been using POWER PRO since 1994.
Lures or bait .. mono leader or no mono leader .. it don't matter !!!
It's just awesome fishing line, plain and simple as that is .. just enjoy it !!!!

PowerPro is good, I have recently been trying Daiwa J-Braid, 8 strand. It seems thinner than PP. Price is good and color holds. Was catching flounder and Corvinas in rough conditions Peru with 30lb braid. Did get wind knots on the first day, but I think it was me, lure + wind combination, as it didn't happen again. Did not use a leader.

I use the old reliable original 10# Power Pro on all of my spinning reels with no complaints. The most consistent "best braid" reviews seem to go to Power Pro Slick 8, Sufix 832, and FINS Windtamer. FYI, I used Fireline on my crappie rods when I fished fresh water and really liked it. When I went back to the salt I found that it didn't hold up in the salt as well as other lines. That's when I switched to Power Pro.
