One of the options on my HDS is the "steer" page. I believe it is their version of Humminbird's "birds eye view".
Half of the screen is taken up with information that I don't care about - and I can't figure out how to get it to use the map full-screen.
For me, it is completely unusable going across the lake on a plane at night with only a half screen.

I can't find a single Youtube video on it, so I assume nobody is using it. But I would like to use it at night if I could go full-screen.
Does anyone know if there is a way to get the map to view full-screen?

Here's a picture from their manual.

I don't think anybody uses that screen. Everybody uses a full map screen with "heading up" to see where they're going

full map, heading up, turn the brightness way down. That's how I run at night. There's so much stuff on graphs these days that most folks never need or understand, me included.

Not sure I quite understand what your wanting. Are you trying to eliminate the steering data from your map?

If I'm understanding you correctly.... I think for that screen you would need a form of smart steer added to your boat. It links the steering wheel and your HDS to the outboard motor.

If you don't care about all that data at the top, just run the charts page with the 3D option turned ON. That will probably get you what you're wanting.

If you look at the picture on my original post, you will see that exactly 1/2 of the screen is map.
I want 100% of the screen to be map.

It may be that I can use the chart full-screen and enable 3d (as LinkLowrance suggested) to accomplish the task. I just don't see why they would have a "steer" option if you can't steer while on plane. I prefer 2d when looking for fish, so it would be redundant to change from 3d to 2d and back all the time.
They should remove the "steer" option (for those who don't have smartsteer) so people like me don't waste their time trying to figure out why it doesn't work.

Or maybe try reading your owners manual and figuring out what each function is for. Just because the function isn't suitable for your use, doesn't mean it doesn't have its place with another rig. Contrary to popular belief, these companies don't make these graphs just for bass boats.

This is all the information (except for the picture I put at the top) that the manual has for the "steer page":
Steer page
The Steer page can be used to display information when you are
navigating.
Data fields
The Steer page displays the following information:
DTD Distance to destination
XTE Cross track error
SOG Speed over ground
TTD Time to destination
COG Course over ground
POS Position
The course line
When traveling on a route the course line shows the intended
course from one waypoint towards the next. When navigating
towards a waypoint (cursor position, MOB or an entered lat/lon
position), the course line will show the intended course from the
point at which navigation was started towards the next waypoint.
Vessel symbol
The vessel symbol indicates distance and bearing relative to the
intended course.
Off course limit
If the XTE exceeds the defined off course limit this will be indicated
with a red arrow including the distance from the track line.
If the off course alarm is enabled, the alarm will activate if the XTE
exceeds the defined off course limit.
