Too bad they can't drain one of them and start all over as a bass lake.
If San Antonio, would have built the water reservoir which was going to be called Applewhite. I bet you would have had a hell of a bass lake located in SA. Voters at that time voted it down, so the project was scraped. I don't remember how many acres it would have covered, but would have made a great fishery I bet.
Yep, short-sighted people. The big argument was the poor Southside people would have to drink dirty lake water and the rich north sider's would get to drink aquifer water... but as a city, it was a big loss not to develop in the citys own watershed and then move on to bigger lakes. As a city, you can't build and take land from other areas if you haven't done your own watershed.

Ah, 1991. The days of the Apple White Reservoir - Ronnie Pucek Catfish Farm fiasco. Can't have one without the other -- https://books.google.com/books?id=nhe8Bw...arm&f=false Too bad they can't drain one of them and start all over as a bass lake.

There was all kinds of arguments and accusations concerning the Applewhite Reservoir. I believe some council members were accused of buying up land around it for investment. Early bird gets the worm. It was said that since it would be a fairly shallow lake it would be just a mud hole, and that it would mean letting water out of Medina lake in order to maintain the lake, thus making the people around Medina upset. It was dead on arrival with all the shananagans, and never really had a chance, and why it was voted down.
Just one more cast!

Cuero I and Cuero II should have been built. Would have back water up to Gonzales. But a few landowners and when San Antonio said they wanted the water it was abandoned. No one wants anything that San Antonio is involved in.

Went out this morning for the first time in about a month or so. This is the time of year I can usually get into schools pretty good in shallow water. My son and I released 15 reds in about 2 hours and had quite a few spit the artificials near the boat, weird! Lots of other boats started coming in and doing some serious pot- licking so we packed up and moved on. All in all it was a good morning.
