Hi Guys,

My son and I are looking for access to the spillways for Lake Tyler East, or Lake Palestine to fish this weekend while visiting family in Arp. I have googled it without much luck finding any info. Are they open to the public? Thanks!

I've seen cars and trucks parked beside the road below the west lake spillway and they walk in, but I don't know if it's legal.

Thank you TEXASJIGSTER.

Is there a good place to bank fish with an 8yr old? I figured the spillways would be decent, but my son keeps asking for creeks or rivers.

Highway 3341 (East Side Rd) goes across the west lake twice and he can fish both places. The only bad side of both places vehicles fly down that road.

We have fished there a few times with no real luck. Hoping to find a better spot without driving around taking up all our time. I think we will try the spillway.
Thanks again!

You can get to the Neches below Lake Palestine but not sure if they are releasing water or how much water is there but should be easy to get to.

Take your son to The Boulders at Lake Tyler. They have a fishing pier. He'll love it!

Man drove his boat over the spillway with a woman on board, woman died but didn't hear about the man. Never heard whether alcohol was involved, just an accident or what was the reason.
